Enlightened Healthcare is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free medical imaging services to student athletes. Our services include free MRI scans and screening echocardiogram ultrasound exams.
About Us
Enlightened Healthcare is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Mark Segura and Shobi Zaidi, M.D. The founders’ belief that sports brings communities together and advances student confidence, leadership skills, and ambition off the field became the founding principle for EH. With over thirty years of combined service in the medical field, Mark and Shobi wanted to provide access to medical services to all student athletes irrespective of background. The third board member is Daylon McCutcheon, a former NFL cornerback and coach.
Overview of the Organization
The organization provides free medical imaging services to student athletes, with a focus on timely and accurate diagnoses for sports-related injuries and illnesses. Medical services are provided through its partner SoCal Radiology, an imaging center in Riverside, CA. EH also hosts community engagement and outreach events for athletes to meet, play and compete in a safe environment. Cost Savings for Student Athletes and Their Families
With up to 3.5 million sports and recreation-related injuries occurring annually in the U.S among youth, the financial strain on families, especially those uninsured, can be immense. We aim to alleviate this by offering our services free of charge, ensuring every student athlete gets the care they deserve, irrespective of their family’s financial condition.
Time Savings for Student Athletes
Time is of the essence, especially for injured athletes. The conventional medical system often leaves athletes waiting for essential scans. We’re changing that. At Enlightened Healthcare, our goal is to provide MRI scans within 24-48 hours of injury, ensuring a swift path to recovery and a quicker return to the field.
